I love how everything is so clean burger was the best I've tasted here in Yakima. let's not forget our waitress Eunice was so friendly loved her energy. 😊

Very nice location. 50's themed diner with attention paid to detail on decoration.I ordered the 1/3 lbs "Classic" burger and a shake. The burger was served on a roll of some sort resembling a hot dog bun. It was tough and crusty and not lending anything to a classic burger. My preference is a full bun with the burger pressed to fit allowing for juicy patties.The meat was quality however. A hamburger needs to have some fat left in it to impart flavor. This patty shaped like a log was compact and dry indicating either a very lean blend or the chef sat on top of it with a weight belt. Lacking in salt or seasoning. I was very let down as I am an aficionado in burgerdom and left the majority on the plate.Overall a lackluster meal I wont repeat.The staff was extremely nice, restrooms spotless and odor free and the place actually did resemble the haunts of yesteryear. Would have rated higher but theburger....well...sucked.

After walking in, you begin to question your life choices. Once you sit down and look around, you wonder if the food will be as run down as the building you're sitting in. You begin to wonder if you should quietly leave. You'd be too embarrassed, plus you're starving, so you stay. You order from a basic menu with basic food options. Your food shows up and you taste it. What a pleasant surprise! It's better that you expected and all of the sudden you feel better about life choices (and your restaurant choices). Happily, you eat and then order a slice of pie.

We make it to Yakima once a year or so and this is always one of our stops. Such a fun place to eat. Fred, the owner, is always making the round insuring everyone is happy and having a good time. This is a must try!

Had a great lunch. Good service and good food. Mel's has a good menu for seniors and light eaters. That helps those of us who have special dietary needs. We enjoy being made to feel that we are among friends.

I guess it's overrated. The meat was hard to eat. Inside of the hash potato didn't cook well. This was signature dish of the placeInterior is beautiful.

Totally loved it. The wife and I had a great breakfast at this vintage-style diner -- fantastic decor, good diner atmosphere, and friendly people. Had a slice of delicious cherry pie with coffee after that, too! We'll probably end up stopping here every time we're in Yakima now.

Cute place, good food and reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Can't go wrong with this place. Will definitely be going back.
